Anxiety is a common condition that affects millions of people around the world. While there are many treatments available, it can be challenging to find a solution that works for everyone. For me, I have found that a daily practice has helped me to manage my anxiety and maintain a sense of calm in my daily life. That practice is meditation.
Meditation is a simple and accessible practice that involves focusing your attention on a specific object, such as your breath, and allowing your thoughts to pass by without judgment. While it may sound easy, it can be challenging to maintain a regular practice, especially when you're dealing with anxiety.
I learnt meditation several years ago when I was travelling in the mountains. I was struggling with anxiety and panic attacks. At first, it was difficult to quiet my mind and sit still for even a few minutes. But over time, with regular practice, it became easier, and I noticed that I was feeling more centered and calm.
One of the things I love about meditation is that it can be done anywhere, at any time, however the beauty of surroundings definitely add to the calmness.
Research has shown that meditation can have a significant impact on reducing anxiety symptoms. It can help regulate breathing, lower heart rate, and reduce the production of stress hormones. It can also help to increase feelings of well-being and improve overall mental health.
